About The Author
Ibrahima Barry
Ibrahima Barry was born and raised in the most impoverished region of Senegal, West Africa, in a family of 9. When he was 6, Ibrahima’s family left Senegal for Labé, his birthplace, in the Republic of Guinea. After experiencing hard times, his father went back to Senegal first, and then the rest of the family followed. Ibrahima’s mother did not have enough money to pay for the trip back to Senegal for the entire family. Therefore, he volunteered to stay behind. Ibrahima Barry was seven years old at the time. He was frequently hungry, mistreated for three years, abandoned to fend for himself like a street beggar, and forced to leave with relatives.
